Ted Kennedy, Law School Class of '59

The University of Virginia Law School has posted a Ted Kennedy appreciation here. It's worth a look, in part to see a photograph of John and Robert (Class of '51) visiting their brother during his second year of law school -- when he simultaneouly managed John's successful re-election to the Senate.

The school notes that Kennedy won Virginia's Moot Court competition (a mock trial conducted before actual judges) along with his then-roomate, future Senator John Tunney of California. And it includes the reminiscence of one law professor who taught both Ted and his brother, noting that they were "both just average students, but … good on their feet."

Of course, Sen. Kennedy went on to have an enormous impact on the law, not least as the champion of his former legal counsel Stephen Breyer through his confirmation to the Supreme Court, and earlier his staunch opposition to the nomination of Robert Bork.
